How to send photos

Taken some great pictures on an Oonasdivers tour? A fabulous fish picture? Friends the worse for wear? The Southern Dive Villages water cooler?

Send them along & if we like them (no guarantees here!) we'll pick a few for our “picture of the day” section.

Give us your name, where the picture was shot & if you want, a link to your web site, Flickr account and/or an e-mail contact address to put under the picture. Be careful here, if you're looking to make money out of photography & would like people to get in touch with you that's fine but remember, putting your e-mail address on-line can lead to an awful lot of “spam”, though we'll do it for you, unless you have a very good reason for wanting this we don't think it's a good idea!

Details & Technical stuff

Send your pictures as e-mail attachments to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If your pictures contain images of your friends make sure you've got their permission, we don't want this to turn into “blackmail corner!”

We accept pictures in electronic format only & prefer a size of at least 1100 x 800 pixels (approximately)

Please send your pictures as JPEGs with minimal compression to preserve quality, from digital camera owners we prefer the original picture file from the camera.

Windows XP users; often when you send pictures from XP it asks if you want to reduce the size of the picture for e-mailing, the answer should be NO!

Scanning photos taken from film based cameras; if the picture is from a print scan at 300dpi then save as a high quality JPEG, this should result in a picture file size of between 500k & 1.5meg, this is okay to send to us as we can receive messages of around 6 megabytes; if you want to send more feel free to send multiple e-mails.

Scanning slides; I'm afraid our knowledge runs out here but as above, if you end up with good quality JPEGs between 500k & 1.5meg that'll be fine.

Camera phones; as yet the quality is just not there but we'll be keeping an eye on this one as things get better, having said that, if you've got a camera phone shot of a shark tap dancing on Sharm beach we might just show it! (offer excludes guests dressing up as sharks)
