Enjoy the Bedouin hospitality whilst overlooking the stunning views and take advantage of the beautiful house reef, ideal for training and for those who wish to combine boat and shore diving. With their PADI 5 Star dive centre on site, their own jetty and their own fleet of diving boats available for daily diving and mini cruises, there has never been a better way to explore the most famous dive sites of the northern Red Sea.

The mountains of the Sinai create a spectacular backdrop made more dramatic at sunset as they turn a dusky pink hue, until they become dark shadowy outlines in the moonlight. For those visitors who venture into the interior they will discover the wind and sandblasted rock sculptures and wadis which create a haven of peace and tranquillity. Lapping gently into the bay, the Red Sea brings nutrient rich waters teeming with life and encouraging the beautiful coral gardens' growth.

This is one of the few places in the area where there is a pretty house reef abundant with corals easily accessible from both pontoon and beach. Learning to dive is a pleasure here, with your first dives in the open sea.

Sharks Bay - Umbi Diving Village's on site dive centre has an international team of professional and friendly staff led by Alex Brady, the dive centre manager.

The centre is fully equipped, has 2 modern compressors and teaches all PADI Courses from Discover Scuba Diving to PADI Divemaster. The courses are kept small with a maximum of 5 students and they also prefer to keep groups smaller on the boats which means that guests can enjoy a better days diving away from the crowds.

You can bask in the warm Sinai sunshine, and be as active – or as relaxed as you like. If you wish to combine your land based trip with a mini safari liveaboard, Sharks Bay Umbi Diving have their own Freedom Fleet liveaboards; Freedom IV, Freedom V and Freedom VIII, which are available for 1 to 7 night trips.

Sharks Bay - Umbi Village is also the ideal resort from which to extend your trip and travel to the vibrant and historical city of Cairo.

Umbi Village offers traditional Bedouin style and hospitality alongside modern facilities. There are four types of accommodation:

Bedouin Village Suite

Built in the same style as the Bedouin Village Rooms, the 'Jacuzzi Suite' as we call it is fantastic for those celebrating a special occasion or simply if you fancy spoiling yourself. The suite has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, a double bedroom, a separate living area, mini fridge, television, telephone and your very own balcony with a jacuzzi. The suite will sleep a maximum of 4 guests.

Bedouin Village Rooms

Built in the style of a mountainside village, the rooms are reached by a network of steps and causeways which wind their way up the cliff face stopping every so often to give access to the rooms or open spaces and balconies bringing to you a breathtaking view across the bay. All of the rooms have direct sea views, and most have balconies. All have private bathrooms, air-conditioning, mini-fridges, television and telephone. The Bedouin Village Rooms will sleep a maximum of 4 guests.

Beach Cabins

These are wooden cabins looking onto their own small courtyard with some fronting directly onto the beach – all have private bathrooms, air-conditioning and mini-fridges. Great for families with small children who want quick and easy access to the beach and waterfront. The Beach Cabins will sleep a maximum of 3 guests.

View Huts

The View Huts are set up on the cliff top with their own garden of bougainvillea and, like the Bedouin Village rooms, have fantastic views over the sea to Tiran Island. They are an ideal budget accommodation, with twin beds and a fan. Although no en-suite facilities, they have separate male and female showers and toilets. The View Huts will sleep 2 guests.

We can arrange your flights from many UK airports to Sharm El Shiekh including Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Nottingham East Midlands, Glasgow and many more. Flying days may vary depending on the airline and its flight schedules.

The flight to Sharm normally takes around 5 hours. On arrival at Sharm airport you will need to purchase your own Egyptian visa from the booth to the left as you enter the airport, this will cost approximately £13 cash.

On arrival at Sharm airport you will be met by the Sharks Bay Representative, who will be holding a sign with Sharks Bay - Umbi Village's logo, and transferred to Umbi Village by air conditioned mini bus. The transfer time is about 10 minutes.

Your holiday package includes accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis. There is also the option to upgrade to half board or full board accommodation.

For those of you that will be daily diving a delicious hot buffet lunch and drinks are served on board the boat at an extra cost of 50 Egyptian Pounds (approximately £5 sterling) per person which is payable locally.

We highly recommend that for your trip you take the equivalent of £50 - £75 sterling in Egyptian Pounds to pay for lunch onboard the boat and food and drink on site. The best rates of exchange are normally found in the UK prior to departure though you may need to pre-order Egyptian Currency. Altenatively you can change money at the airport before you travel.

The Umbi Seafood Restaurant is located right on the beach with fantastic views of Tiran Island – and it is where you will enjoy your breakfast every day.

The restaurant also caters for dinner and serves fresh fish and seafood dishes as well as a wide range of other meat and vegetarian options. A wonderful place to enjoy a great meal at the end the day!

The Beach Bar is ideal for an alfresco lunch and to quench your thirst after diving with their delicious fresh fruit juices.

The rest of the evening can then be spent relaxing in the Bedouin Tent enjoying a shisha, a beer and the stunning sunset followed by the tranquil moonlight over Tiran. This is the place where guests congregate at night – unless you take the ten minute journey to sample the restaurants, bars and nightlife of Naama Bay.

Sharks Bay is an ideal sheltered bay for other water sports from swimming and snorkelling to water skiing and wake or kneeboarding. A great way for the whole family to enjoy any one of these additional activities under the watchful eye of your own instructor for the session.

Wakeboarding is one of the most popular extreme sports around combining technique, agility and style with speed and fitness. Influenced by a mixture of surfing and waterskiing it is similar to snowboarding and uses only a single ski.

Easier to learn than waterskiing or wakeboarding, knee boarding has the added advantage of keeping you close to the water for when that inevitable fall happens! Wanting to learn? – then book an individual lesson to get you started.

For a bit of fun you can also try the crazy donuts or banana rides.

If you would like to see some of the surrounding areas during your stay Sharks Bay offer many excursions such as the Coloured Canyon & Dahab, Mount Moses & St Katherines, St Katherines Monastery & Dahab, Abu Galum & Blue Hole, Dahab, Quadrunner Trip, Sunset Camel Trip, Bedouin Dinner, Cairo day trip by plane or bus and a Petra day trip by plane or bus. These can be booked on site at Sharks Bay reception.

The dive centre has a professional and friendly international team of staff led by Alex Brady, the Dive Centre Manager.

The great thing about the set up at Umbi is everything is on site and there are no long road transfers to the boats. In fact you will embark the day boat from Sharks Bay's private jetty which is just 70m from the dive centre.

30 minutes cruising and you are in the world class diving area of the Straits of Tiran teeming with marine life. There you will find steep walls, coral gardens, exciting drifts, pelagic fish, sharks and rays. The beautiful dive sites of Ras Nasrani and Ras Gamila are only 15 minutes away.

The National Park of Ras Mohammed is within easy reach of the day boats and the wrecks of the Thistlegorm and Dunraven are only a few hours away. Exciting single RIB dives, night dives and early morning shore dives are also available to book on site.

A typical day starts around 08:00 with a short walk from the dive centre to the jetty. On the journey to the dive site your guide will brief you about the site and the various safety procedures. After the first dive a delicious hot buffet lunch is provided on board before moving to a second dive site for the afternoon dive. The boats normally arrive back at the jetty between 16:00 – 17:30.

In summer special diving trips can be arranged at 16:00 to try and spot the elusive hammerhead sharks at the back of Jackson Reef in Tiran – as all the day boats will have left by then you will often be the only boat in the area.

Please note that for safety reasons if you have not dived for six months you will be required to do a check dive and if you have not dived for 12 months or more you will be required to do a scuba review.

Umbi Diving has it's own fleet of five diving boats, the Freedom Fleet, four of which can be used for overnight diving safaris, making your adventure to the Red Sea extra special to you and your family or club group.

I'm writing to thank you for organising our holiday to Sharks Bay last week.  The holiday was fabulous, the dive centre, hotel, dive guides and dive sites were all amazing, nothing was too much trouble.

We ended up being able to do 7 days boat diving and a night dive, and despite being on three different boats during the week, each crew and dive guide were brilliant.  Alex, the Dive Centre Manager was helpful, as were the reception staff.

All in all, this diving holiday was a return to diving for me after a period of not diving and it couldn't have been any better.

Just to let you know that Harriet and I had a great time in Shark’s Bay at Umbi’s and will certainly be recommending it to friends and family.

The rooms were great, the restaurant lovely, the beach – easy, but of particular brilliance was the actual diving club and the people who all made it just that special.
