Tulamben Drop Off

Tulamben Drop Off is located approx. 500mtrs to the south east of the well-known wreck of the MS Liberty. The reef edge lies at a depth of 5 to 10mtrs after which the reef drops down steeply to approx. 60-70mtrs. The wall captivates with ist wonderful growth corals as well as many gorgonian sea fans and sponges. Special mention must be made to the huge shoals of mackerels and the bumphead-parrotfish which can be seen here very frequently. Also, in the early morning hours and with the right current, whitetip reef sharks, grey reef sharks and occasionally even hammerhead sharks can be observed. The visibility at this spot is approx. 15-20 mtrs. Many different kinds of reef fish can be seen here, especially various emporer fish, mackerels, pygmy seahorses, tuna, octopus, lion fish, scorpion- and stonefish, glass fish and a large variety of nudibranches and small crabs.
