Amed Lipah Bay

Lipay Bay is situated in a quiet bay, to the southeast of Ahmed. This diving spot is a steel wreck about 20mtrs long, which lies at a depth of 6-12mtrs. Apparently, this was a Japanese patrol boat which sank during the War. It is covered with countless soft corals and a large variety of colourful fish live here. Going over the slope, which is overgrown with soft and hard corals you reach the bay. The slope starts at a depth of about 12mtrs and goes down to around 35mtrs. At this depth there is a rock with a coral plateau. The sea floor is sometimes sandy, in other places covered with black coral, sponges and gorgonian sea fans and is inhabited by a diversity of small creatures. Besides the typical variety of tropical fish, many kinds of nudibranches and other small life, scorpion fish, ghost pipe fish, Harlequin shrimps, seahorses, whitetip reef sharks, tuna, turtles and a lot more can be found here.
