Siddhartha Resort & Spa

The Siddhartha Dive Resort & Spa is situated directly on the beach in the mall village of Kubu on Bali’s north-east coast, far from all the commercial tourism. The 30 bungalows & villas blend in perfectly with the enormous 2.66 hectare surrounding terraced landscape.

Siddhartha is the ancient name for Buddha & means something like: “To become enlightened”, here you will still be able to experience the real Bali with its cultural and typical way of life. Siddhartha has become integrated into the community of the neighbouring village of Kubu and the ceremonies that guests are allowed to attend are genuine and are not shows created only for tourists.

Siddhartha is just a three hour drive from Denpasar airport and passes by rice terraces, temples and small villages. It's an ideal opportunity to receive that first impression of the beautiful landscape and the diverse culture of Bali.

Siddhartha is considered to be a “Boutique” resort and offers some beautiful accommodation that will suit almost all needs and budgets, some villas are ideal for sharing with family or friends and a few offer complete privacy. Accommodation is based on bed & breakfast.

Villa "Santai" and "Pantai"

2 bedrooms with double bed, en-suite bathrooms (shower/toilet) and private terrace, ventilator, a/c, minibar, telephone, safe, open plan livingroom, dining area and pantry, SAT TV / DVD / music system, large terrace, seaview & private pool.

Transfer time from the airport to Siddhartha is 3 hours.

Breakfast is served buffet style daily in the main restaurant. The restaurant at Siddartha “Tantris” is reasonably priced and offers a good choice of menu from Balinese Buffet to BBQ's. The menu can be best described as “Asian Fusion“, the delicious contrasting flavours produced by influences from the east and west, result in an absolutely unique culinary experience. Samples menus are available on request.

Siddhartha organises half or full day tours through the local villages of the area, including trips to Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali. Adventure trips are also on offer ranging from trekking Bali’s mountains to rafting down the Ayung Stream.

For those who wish to take some of their experience home you can also learn to cook the exotic Indonesian way, the courses take place every Thursday for 2 to 4 participants. At 6.30 a.m. you will go shopping together with Siddhartha's chef Ida Baguas at the local market. At 12.00 p.m. you will start cooking in the restaurant with the instructions of Ida Bagus. Starter, main course and dessert are on the schedule - all of them typical Balinese dishes. Of course, you will enjoy your own culinary creations after cooking them.

Diving at Siddhartha is available either as “Unlimited House Reef” or a 3, 5 or 10 day “Guided Dive” package, by car and/or boat, the guided package includes 2 dives daily as well as access to the house reef. Please note that for Amed to Gili Selang there is a local charge of €10-€15 made, and nightdives on the SS Liberty €10.

The House Reef

There is a stunning house reef directly in front of the hotel. Within just 10m there are magnificent corals, after which you will see extremely large, individual coral bommies where numerous fish as well as occasionally sharks and Napoleons can be seen.

In the west, the house reef continues on to Kubu Drop Off & Kubu Coral Garden, two of Bali’s most beautiful dive sites. These incredibly beautiful sloping reefs are covered with fields of hard staghorn coral & numerous species of gorgeous soft coral. Rare species of crab, such as the Porcelain crab, as well as the tiny Cowry shell can be seen here, and don’t forget to look out for Pygmy on the deeper Gorgonian sea fans!

Practically every species of reef fish can be seen in abundance: schooling fish such as Chevron barracudas, big schools of basslets, as well as the solitary species of fish, e.g. large groupers. For the shark fans, there are white tip reef sharks and nurse sharks to be seen and you don’t even need to carry your own cylinders to or from these points, this is all arranged for you locally at the dive centre for a small fee of €0.50 per dive.

Diving Region

Practically all the “top sites” of Bali can be reached from the Siddhartha. They have 1 boat (10m), big enough for 12 guests, as well as three small mini buses. This results in more flexibility, enabling us to fulfill all guest requests as well as being able to offer truly individual diving. A large selection of dive sites can be reached within 20 minutes – 1 hour. They are approx. 2.5 – 3 hours away from Bali’s other highlights, such as Lovina in the north, Nusa Menjangan as well as Secret Bay in the west. The dive sites around Pandangbai & Nusa Penida in the south-eastern region of Bali can be reached within 1.5 – 2 hours.

Tulamben

The best known diving spot in Bali is in Tulamben, just 40 minutes from the diving centre by car. Here you will find the fascinating wreck of the “Liberty” a spectacular site for night dives as well. Just round the corner is Tulamben Drop Off, a lush overgrown wall that drops down to 60m and Coral Garden, a colourful coral landscape partly covered with huge sponges.
