Visas are not required for British subjects staying in Thailand for less than 30 days. Your Burma visa is made for you upon arrival at the Burmese border and our staff will assist you with formalities. The cost of the visa is incorporated into your Burma Dive fees. This visa is also valid for touring the Burmese mainland if required.
The currency in Thailand is the Baht (THB). Please take US Dollar notes with you for your Burma Dive Fees, as you cannot purchase US Dollars in Ranong or Kawthung. Onboard S.Y. Seraph & S.Y Colona II you can settle your drinks tariff in Sterling, US Dollars or Thai Baht.
In Thailand certificates of vaccination are only required when visitors arrive from areas infected with Cholera, Smallpox or Yellow Fever. Persons with AIDS are forbidden entry into Thailand. In Burma the use of insect repellent is recommended, especially when on the islands. If you do take an anti-Malaria medication, Lariam is not recommended because of the potential side effects, which could be dangerous whilst diving.
Dive permission fees vary from $98-$138 depending on how far north the charter goes. Our most northern site is Black Rock, which is included in our 8 day tour. The fee also includes the cost of your Burmese visa and must be purchased on the border with $US notes in good condition.
Payable on site when leaving Bangkok for the UK, the tax is currently $10 (Baht 250).
If visiting Temples conservative attire is required. In Phuket clothing is informal. Light, loose-fitting clothes are the best for Thailand’s climate, which is tropical with a high degree of humidity. The ‘Cool Season’ is November to February, ‘Hot Season’ is March to May and the ‘Monsoon Season’ (when we don’t dive) is June to October. The average air and water temperature is 28°C. In the Cool Season use a 3 or 5mm wetsuit and in the hot season a lycra or 3mm suit.
