The Sea of Cortez around the Baja Californian peninsular of Eastern Mexico, is an epicentre for marine wildlife and we are excited to offer this unforgettable photographic trip. You will take in some of the best wildlife interactions and underwater photographic opportunities that you can possibly dream of.

The majority of this luxury, land-based trip will take you out on day boat trips allowing the group to explore the azure waters around the vibrant yet relaxed town of La Paz. Among the main focus of this trip will be the long, shallow dives around the Californian Sealion colony of Los Isolotes outcrop; our timing should coincide with playful sealion pups coming to an exploratory and inquisitive age with warm and clear waters welcoming you. Diving with sealions in the crystal blue waters and clear blue skies of Baja California promises truly spectacular close encounters adding wonderful images to your photographic portfolio.

The trip will also offer a night dive with schools of feeding mobula rays along with an afternoon of snorkelling with whale sharks around La Paz bay. We also plan to visit other dive sites around the La Paz areas which will take us to places with indigenous species aggregations, dramatic seascapes, coralline growth and macro life all very specific to this area.

Our exclusive itinerary also takes us to the Cabo Pulmo national park for two days. We plan to spend our days here diving and photographing the resident, huge school of very accommodating horse eye jacks, the pristine coral reefs and with a little luck, the passing Bull Sharks that this protected area has to offer at this time of year.

We have chosen to reside in the best quality accommodation in the La Paz area, the Costa Baja Hotel and Spa, close to our dive centre and a short ride to the beach front Malecon walkway, in central La Paz city which offers an array of high quality restaurants, retail outlets, and a particular highlight, the marine museum. Included in the package will be breakfast at resort and lunch on the boats. We have chosen not to include dinner as the choice of restaurants in the resort and the town will make your mouth water.

The photo workshop will explore ideas among others to optimise your photography for large animal encounters. Daily photo presentations/discussion and photo critiques will focus on key aspects of photographic technique and as always the aim is to promote a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere which can help you all as photographers develop your skills through stress-free peer-learning.

This will be the third time for me in Baja California and this trip cannot come around soon enough. I’m delighted that we have managed to put together such a diverse itinerary with and array of top-drawer highlights.

This trip promises to be an unforgettable experience, put your name on the list quickly as we expect the limited number of places to sell out fast.
