Murex Manado has a casual but classic vibe and is a great place to stay whether you are looking for an amazing diving holiday, a romantic getaway, or an exciting destination for all the family to enjoy together. There are fifteen comfortable and spacious bungalows, of which twelve enjoy garden views, and the other three have ocean and pool views. Each bungalow has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, complimentary tea, coffee and drinking water, king size or twin beds, and a lovely veranda with seating. There is the option to add an extra bed or a cot, and at Murex Bangka there are adjoining rooms which have internal doors thereby creating a large family suite.

The resort is family friendly and childcare can be arranged on request. Children can take advantage of the stand-up paddleboards and rope swing and spend many an hour in the swimming pool. The resort has junior life jackets and small sized snorkelling masks and fins. Children aged 8+ can have a go at scuba diving in the purpose bult pool, and from 10 years they can experience their first breath underwater! There is also a wonderful selection of land tours available for the whole family such as the Minahasan Highland Tour which takes in traditional markets, local villages, Mahawu Volcano and Lake Linow. Tangkoko Nature Reserve and Tasikoki Animal Rescue Centre are also close by.

Underwater photographers will be in their element in the designated camera room which has personal preparation areas, plug sockets, bright lighting and air conditioning, there is also a flat-screen television for viewing marine life presentations and underwater videography. For those lazy days grab a good book and make your way to the ocean view infinity pool where you will find pool towels and sun loungers ready for you to lay back and unwind. For some additional pampering visit the onsite spa and enjoy a relaxing massage, just one of the many treatments on offer. There are indoor and outdoor dining spaces where you will be served a mouth-watering variety of dishes from around the world.

Murex Dive Resorts number one priority is to promote conservation and ensure that their reefs, marine life, and natural landscapes are protected. Murex’s founder, Dr Hans Batuna was pivotal in promoting marine conservation in North Sulawesi and he was instrumental in the creation of the Bunaken Marine Park – one of Indonesia’s first Marine Protected Areas. Today Murex work with several conservation organizations and the Indonesian Government as well as developing their own initiatives which include Plastic Reduction, Clean ups and Coastal River Guardianship, Plastic Recycling, Solar Power, Coral Reef Awareness and Regeneration (Ocean Gardening), Responsible Marine Tourism and Local Community Education and Economic Support. Murex Dive Resorts are affiliated with PADI and offer an excellent range of courses from beginners’ levels through to Divemaster.

Food and Drink

Your stay at Murex Manado is on a full board basis. Complimentary tea and coffee are available in your accommodation, along with drinking water.

You will enjoy three plentiful buffet meals a day, all served in the lovely open-air dining area which is located on the beachfront with wonderful views. The cuisine is varied and combines a tantalizing mix of International and Asian flavours using fresh local ingredients.

The team of western trained chefs can cater for special dietary requirements upon request.

Flights and Transfers

We can arrange your flights from several UK airports; Heathrow usually provides the best prices and connections via Singapore. The flight time is around 24 hours, please call us to discuss your specific requirements and dates.

The nearest airport to the resort is Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado. Transfers are included within your package and take approximately an hour.

You do not require a VISA to enter Indonesia unless you intend to stay for more than 30 days.

Diving Information

Manado offers year-round easy diving with visibility up to 30m. A typical day starts with a two-dive trip to the Bunaken Marine Park, which is just 35 minutes away, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the resident spinner dolphin pods that like to play alongside the boats. You then return to the resort for lunch, followed by a third dive to explore Manado Bay or opt for a three-dive safari trip with lunch served on the boat. Murex Manado is an award winning PADI 5-star Dive Centre with a 4-meter-deep, purpose-built dive training pool.

Please note that when diving in Bunaken Marine Park there is a (one off) Marine Park entry fee of IDR 150,000 per diver / snorkeler.

Manado Bay night dives reveal a host of rare critters and are definitely a wonder to behold.

Highlights of Bunaken

There are stunning walls and hard corals. You will lose count of the number of turtles in a single dive and look out for reef sharks, schooling fish, sea snakes, passing eagle rays, sting rays, abundant critters and macro life, resident dolphin and pilot whale pods alongside the boat, occasional dugongs, seasonal sperm whale sightings, vibrant and colourful corals.

Highlight of Manado Bay

A mix of black and white sand muck and reef diving which is home to some of Indonesia’s rarest and most unique critters including mimic octopus, squid, flamboyant cuttlefish, sea horses and numerous crustacean, nudibranch and frogfish species.

For macro underwater photographers Manado Bay dive sites are treasure troves full of opportunities.

House Reef

Step off the volcanic black sand beach and discover a world of critters and intriguing macro life right on your doorstep. This easy dive site can be explored with or without a guide in buddy pairs.

Each diving day you book includes 1 self-guided dive on the house reef.

The dive boats at Murex are purpose built for comfort and safety and have many benefits such as fresh water box for cameras, shaded areas, toilets, long ladders for easy boarding, individual tank racks and gear space, and hot and cold refreshments.
