Itinerary Highlights
Timed with the new and full moon phases between July and October to maximize the chances of manta ray encounters.
Offers the rare opportunity to snorkel in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hanifaru Bay.
Includes dives at manta cleaning stations in the northern atolls of Lhaviyani and Baa, as well as renowned sites like Kuredu Express and Kuredu Caves.
Divers may encounter mantas, turtles, grey reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks.
The itinerary is carefully designed to cover multiple manta hotspots, increasing the chances of sightings throughout the week.
While sightings cannot be guaranteed, the timing and route offer a high probability of witnessing manta feeding and cleaning behavior.
Timed around the new moon phase, this itinerary takes advantage of greater tidal ranges, which bring a plankton-rich flow into Hanifaru Bay. This natural phenomenon draws massive aggregations of mantas into the bay for a spectacular plankton feeding frenzy that occurs annually between July and October.
The journey sails from Male to the northern atolls of Lhaviyani, Baa (Hanifaru Bay), and Raa, visiting a range of renowned dive sites including Kuredu Express, Labyrinth, and Shipyard.
In addition to manta sightings, divers have the chance to get close to turtles, grey reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks. A major highlight is the possibility of witnessing manta rays feeding and getting cleaned at known stations.
Although diving is not permitted within Hanifaru Bay, guests are allowed to snorkel in the lagoon alongside these graceful giants. After feeding, mantas head to cleaning stations, and this itinerary includes visits to key sites in both North Male and Baa Atoll, enhancing the likelihood of memorable encounters throughout the cruise.
